OPTICAL TURBULENCE PARAMETRIZATION IN  STABLE REGIMES

The most critical issue concerning the optical turbulence modeling is the parameterization and calibration of the model. The optical turbulence is parameterized in a non-hydrostatical mesoscale model that is the microscopic fluctuations of temperature and other passive tracers are expressed as the gradient of the equivalent macroscopic quantities. This apparently simple methodology still hides several uncertainlties. ForOT is actively engaged in studies aiming to improve the optical turbulence parameterization. Studies on this topic are on-going.
